Daily News & Analysis: After Kansas Shooting, Indians Jolted, But American Dream Alive

International students represent a majority of graduate students in US higher-education for many engineering specialties as well as economics and computer science. Most students studying in the United States come from China followed by India; Indians receive more H1B visas than any other internationality. Skilled labor contributes to innovation and economic prosperity. A rise in anti-immigrant rhetoric and racial attacks and the murder of Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla in Kansas may prompt some foreigners to reconsider plans to work or study in the United States, reports Heena Khandelwal for Daily News & Analysis. A 51-year old suspect, a veteran, also injured another Indian engineer as a group convened in a bar to watch a University of Kansas basketball game, before another customer, a construction worker, intervened. “Sunayana Dumala, widow of Srinivas Kuchibhotla, said that she always had doubts about safety in the US, but was always assured by her husband,” she demands an answer, “What are they going to do to stop this hate crime?” Khandelwal wrote. now that i know garmin is hiring cheap, foreign labor i will no longer buy their products.

And why are you using the internet or any electronic device, if you decline to purchase from companies that rely on foreign labor or H1B visas? Such reaction to a murder is vile and suggests America has far to go to become great again. If it ever was.
