The Korea Times: North Korea Threatens China, Too, Notes South Korea’s Moon

North Korea’s government continues to develop and test ballistic missiles – 15 this year alone – along with nuclear tests despite a flailing economy. The international community recognizes that the rogue regime is not above extortion and could nuclear weapons to coerce any country. “North Korea's nuclear and missile provocations are threats to the peace of not only South Korea but also China, President Moon Jae-in said,” reports Kim Rahn for the Korea Times. Moon is on a state visit to China and spoke at Peking University. China and North Korea share a border and trade. “Moon said Seoul and Beijing won't tolerate Pyongyang's nuclear armament and firmly agreed strong sanctions and pressure are required to prevent its provocations.” Moon told the students that many citizens of South Korea and China view the two countries as competitors but he emphasized cooperation especially around trade. He concluded, Kim reports, that “the potential for further growth is limitless.” – YaleGlobal
