For India, US Health Care a Sea of Opportunity

India’s outsourcers are preparing to develop their next business sector from the United State’s health care reform by covering its administrative and technological needs. A demand for lower administrative expenses and treatment of more patients for every dollar requires low cost labor that comes from outsourcing. Since there are no regulations limiting personal medical data from leaving the US, outsourcers can manage these records abroad electronically. While India’s firms will be managing the outsourcing, not all the jobs will be located in India. Indian firms are seeking to hire American workers as well, whose salaries have remained low as a result of the economic crisis. India’s role may not have been defined when the US Congress passed health care reform, but its likely central role is undeniable. – YaleGlobal
