Nations will watch closely to see if Britain can distance itself from the pain of the Greek debt crisis. Great Britain is one of 27 members of the European Union, but not part of the 17-member eurozone. The British capital of London is also a global center of financial firms, which greased the way for massive debts in Greece, Italy, Spain and elsewhere. David Cameron, the British prime minister, claimed that London and its financial services are “under constant attack” from EU regulations and expressed concern about eurozone nations may gang up on European nations that avoided the euro. “Cameron said that he will fight to prevent closer integration of the Eurozone countries leading to anti-competitive regulations,” writes James Kirkup for the Telegraph. EU officials are asking international organizations to assist with a €1trillion eurozone bailout fund.
