Report by the E.P.A. Leaves Out Data on Climate Change

Global warming has long been a hot political topic. In the US, the interests of environmentalists and big industry converge around this nexus, pitting the two against each other for political support and public attention – or the lack thereof. In the final draft of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s report on the state of the environment, the section on global warming has been significantly pared down by White House editors, and the link between rising world temperatures and industrial exhaust completely removed. Though most White House and EPA officials espouse the integrity of the report, many environmentalists are not so easily comforted. For them, the truth of the section’s removed introduction is clear: discussed or not, “climate change has global consequences for human health and the environment.” – YaleGlobal
