Warning: Extreme Weather Ahead

“Everyone complains about the weather and no one does anything about it” – Mark Twain’s observation also applies to climate change. The entire globe is experiencing a “climate rollercoaster” of extreme weather with record-setting droughts, flooding, winds, temperatures, wildfires and snow, writes John Vidal for the Guardian. He adds, “The impacts of extreme weather are greater in poorer countries, which this week are trying to secure a climate deal in the resumed talks in Bonn.” Rich countries refuse to reduce their disproportionately high emissions or provide aid to poor nations for technological adaptation or relocation. Climate researchers refuse to connect individual weather events with burning fossil fuels and increased carbon dioxide emissions, but statistics would suggest that weather-related disasters are on the rise. Forecasters advise all to prepare for intense record-setting weather as a new normal. – YaleGlobal
